Can you make my cake look like...
No matter how that question ends, the answer is: "Absolutely, we can!" Whether you need the cake to look like someone or something or even somewhere, we can do it. We are artists and take pride in our skills and aesthetic sensibilities.
How much will it cost?
Each cake is different, but any of the following answers will be true in every case: "Not as much as a comparable cake from a larger bakery." "Not nearly as much as your guests will think, based on the look and flavor." "Exactly what we tell you it's going to cost after we meet with you and work out a cake budget."
How far in advance should I order my cake?
It all depends. Generally, 12 weeks is sufficient for most events. If you are planning a wedding in a popular month, however, then you will want to start planning earlier than that.
Do you do rush jobs?
Yes. Beleive it or not, we've done weddings with less than 24 hours notice (the bride called us when her cake was destroyed by a beloved family pet), but that kind of haste is neither easy nor cheap. Whether something qualifies as a rush job and how much the fee will be to expedite all depends on how many other events we are catering and how little time is left until the event. That said, we are quite nimble and committed enough to customer service that we don't mind losing a bit of sleep to make sure you have the perfect cake for your wedding or special event.
Will my cake be delivered??
You can pick up your cake at either our midtown or downtown locations. Depending on the size and intricacy of your cake design, however, it may be safer to have us deliver it. We offer free delivery (for cake orders over $300) within 10 miles of downtown Savannah. Smaller orders or more distant areas will likely incur a delivery fee.
What if I have special dietary requirements?
Cake It Away! can supply a range of gluten and dairy free cake options. Vegan and nut-free cakes are also available. There is nothing we can do, however, if you are allergic to delicious flavor.
I have a busy schedule, are you available after normal business hours?
No problem. We can meet at our mid-town location at 66th and Paulsen or our downtown location at Broughton and Abercorn. Or we can even come to you, if that's more convenient.
Do you offer taste tests?
We offer complimentary sample cake at your consultation (flavor of sample cake will vary from week to week). You can also sample your choice of flavour for a tasting fee of $20 per flavour. MINIMUM 72hrs notice is required for cake tasting.
Can I buy those cute [insert cake stand or setting or other nifty items] from you?
Some items are for sale, others for rent. Still others are family heirlooms that we feel comfortable using for our customers but could not sell. Short answer: just ask!
What are your payment terms and conditions for wedding cakes (and other large, special event cakes)?
We require a $50 non-refundable deposit to secure the event date. We ask for a 50% deposit six weeks prior to the event. If you cancel less than six weeks prior to the event, you forfeit all deposits. Full payment is due seven days prior to the event. A $150 Security Deposit is required for all Cake Stands. Your Security deposit will be returned by the method it was received. Prices remain current for all booking taken within 12 months of the event date. All changes are subject to availability and quote review.
